Light Graffiti is a photographic technique in which exposures are made usually at night or in a darkened room by moving a hand-held light source or by moving the camera. In many cases the light source itself does not have to appear in the image. The term also encompasses images lit from outside the frame with hand-held light sources.

Monkey Electric Bicycle Lighting

Another flashy feature from within the Dark Room was bicycle lights. The Monkeylectric m132 is a consumer bike light system that creates graphical color patterns when your wheel spins between 10-30 MPH. It uses a synthesizer to generate a continuous stream of changes, which are customizable using its integrated waterproof buttons. These psychedelic circuits were available all weekend exclusively to Maker Faire attendees for $59.95.

The light can be used to “paint” a picture (by shining it directly into the camera lens), or illuminate parts of the subject .
You can do this yourself by making your subject (or yourself. just use a tripod) form something from a light source – flashlight, cellphone, etc. while you take the photo in a very slow shutter speed. Atleast 5 second or more would be perfect.
